Green River’s New Mural: The Green River

Allene Swan is a Utah native artist who recently finished a year-long AmeriCorps VISTA for the Greeen River Community Center. Her most recent work is the vibrant mural on Main street in Green River, Utah.

I love art because there are so many things you can do with it. I am 23 years old and an identical twin. I have lived so many different places . Each place has taught me something new about how to express my artistic side. Uganda’s artwork was my favorite- bold and simple but beautiful. I think I really started developing my solid linear and bold color style in my twenties. I have never taken painting lessons but have studied graphite and colored pencil technique, chalk pastel, and wheel thrown pottery. I have done several murals at the Utah Foster Care Foundation Chalk Art Festival. The Green River mural was my biggest project so far. I plan to go back to school for some artistic field-maybe photography. I also plan to do many more huge building murals. They give me a lot of joy.
