Yrma van der Steenstraeten
Yrma is a Dutch artist born in Arnhem and resides in Castle Valley, Utah since 2003. She studied at the Arnhem Art Academy and the Utrecht Graphic Design Institute in the Netherlands. Through the years she has worked in different styles of painting, illustrations, done graphic design and has given drawing and painting classes to children in ages 6 to 12. All this resulted in developing her style. An intense passion for nature has lead to a style of paintings and photographs featuring natural objects and organic shapes. Her paintings vary from almost (sur)realistic portrayals to abstract compositions of nature’s elegant forms. The colors are rich, vibrant and warm. “But nature is still the biggest artist of us all!” She uses acrylics, oils, bees wax, print-technique, metal and the sometimes the camera to create a (new) world that displays her deep passion for nature.
